Are you in search of someone to correct your German essay or to translate your English or French school texts, overseas e-mails or business letters into German?
Or maybe you want your German texts, whatever they are about, to be translated into English or French? I like to do that, too, but I must advise you of the fact that I'm not a native speaker of these languages, so that the translations might diverge from a native speaker's language habit.
I'm also able to explain the etymology of a word, as long as it's officially and scientifically recognized; I wouldn't venture to offer speculations, unless they are explicitly desired. For now, I'd restrict my offers to German, English, French, Dutch, Latin, Spanish, and Arabic. Other languages should not be a problem either, but I would prefer discussing the inquiry in private first.
You've found an old memo by your grandma, great-grandmother's cookbook or a quick note behind a picture, and you don't know how to decipher this scribble? This could be Kurrent! I'll read it for you and will send you the digitized version. In most cases, I can offer translations into English or French, too. On the other hand, you could also encounter some problems in reading and understanding the Fraktur, Gothic, or Runic script. I would undertake such a task as well. Help with other ancient scripts cannot be guaranteed, but can be asked about in the guestbook or forum.
Do you remember your last trip to Thailand, Mongolia, China or the United Arabic Emirates when you wanted to enter a local shop, but you didn't even know what the billboard over the entrance door was supposed to mean? Too often, you can't look it up in a dictionary, because you don't know how to read the script. Why don't you just send me a picture (please not too blurry and/or wiggly), so that I can digitize and—if I am able to—translate it for you.
